CS2 Callouts – Boost Your Progress in the Game

There are seven maps in the Counter-Strike 2 map pool. All of them differ significantly from each other not only visually, but also in terms of gameplay and in their positions. The key to successful play is knowing all of them. It is not only about big locations on the map, but also about the smallest spots. These places on the maps in the game are called CS2 callouts.

Every player who sets more or less serious goals in the game must know these details perfectly. In this case, it is possible to achieve one of the main factors of victory – quality communication between teammates. Just one word, spoken in voice chat, can give the team valuable information, which in the end will become the key to winning a round or maybe even the whole match.

In this article, we, Bloodycase, will look at this question in more detail.

What are CS2 Callouts?

CS2 maps callouts are, simply speaking, positions, places on the map, each of which has its own name. Some names are common to all maps. For example, mid, plant A, and plant B. Some of them are unique and relate only to one map. For example, the position “Banana” on Inferno, “Forest” on Mirage, and “Cement” on Vertigo.

If we consider all seven maps of competitive mode, the number of such positions will likely reach several hundred. Of course, to learn all the names at once is almost impossible. But nobody requires this! All players, without exception, learned this information gradually, and in the end, the transfer of this information to teammates becomes automatic. So, if you are a beginner and find all this difficult, don’t worry.

Why do Maps Callouts Exist?

CS2, like all games in this series, is one of the most dynamic shooters. In just 5-10 seconds, many important events can occur, influencing the final result of the round. So, to describe the enemy’s location for a long time in your own words is an unacceptable luxury.

To make the process easier, all CS2 map callouts were developed. For example, when entering plant B on Mirage, hearing the word “Edward” is enough to instantly move the crosshair to the right spot and destroy the enemy. The names of positions are made short on purpose, so that the process of transferring important information to teammates takes a minimum of time.

If all team members know callouts perfectly, it improves communication, allows them to act more coordinated, and react faster to events on the map. Not knowing the names of locations by at least one player is a serious blow to your chances of success.

Why is it Important for a Player to Learn Callouts on CS2 Maps?

There are three main factors.

  • Fast communication between players. We already mentioned this. CS2 does not forgive delays in information transfer. While you are describing the enemy’s position for a long time, the enemy can kill half of your team. That is why it is important to be able to explain to your teammates the location of the enemy in 1-2 words, so that they have time to move the crosshair to the right place and open return fire.
  • Strategy planning. Before the start of a match or a separate round, the captain of the team (or any player if there is no captain) can with the help of callouts in a few seconds describe the tasks to teammates and explain who will play where. Without callouts, this process would take a minute or more, which means planning would have to continue when the round has already started. Considering that timings in CS2 are extremely important, this is a critical point.
  • Improvement of the game experience. Knowing the positions on the map simply allows you to make more frags, because you, after hearing one word in voice chat, can immediately change your decision or, for example, peek the enemy with prefire. Another example: After hearing information from a teammate about where the attack on the plant comes from, you can organize a more effective defense.

Without knowledge of CS2 callouts (at least most of the positions), there is no sense at all to go into a real match. Such a player becomes a burden for the team and a weak link.

Maps Overview

Mirage Callouts

Many rankings show that this is the most popular map in CS2. After switching to the new version of the game, it did not lose its leading position. The map is very simple to understand. It is divided into three big locations: Mid, plant A, and plant B. Their locations are very easy to learn.

There are, of course, also smaller locations. For example, many shootouts happen on Catwalk, which leads to Short.

Dust2 Callouts

Another legendary map, where even many inexperienced players navigate well. It is presented with long corridors without a large number of hidden places, which have specific names.

In principle, many inexperienced players think: CS2 map callouts I need are Long, Short, Mid, Tunnels, Car, and Pit. And you know what? This may be enough. As we already said, there are a few critically important small positions here. But you will also learn their names over time if you play Dust2 regularly.

Inferno Callouts

The map that captured the hearts of many players with its beautiful Italian vibe and lovely streets. In CS2, it became even better.

One of the locations that is most often used for firefights is Banana – a long corridor, which both teams can quickly access after the start of the round. Often, sniper duels take place here, and opening frags happen.

T Ramp is the position that terrorists pass to get to Mid, where a sniper often waits for them. From Mid, terrorists can go toward Banana or plant A. T Spawn is the position where the attacking team appears at the beginning of the round. T Apartments is the building located closer to T Spawn.

CT Apartments is the building located closer to plant A. From here, terrorists jump out to take control of the location and plant the bomb. Underpass is the passage that connects Mid and Long. By using this place, you can change your location unnoticed by the enemy.

Nuke Callouts

CS2 Nuke Callouts

Another old good map loved by many players. It is much more difficult than the ones listed above, because it has two levels. The map is quite small and has many turns and corners. Because of this, players often choose here shotguns, farm guns, and other devices that are less popular on other maps.

Terrorists have two ways. The first is the passage to point A through the building, which is located right next to the base. To reach point B, you need to go around this building. If an attacking player passes through the CT base, they see a staircase that leads underground. By using it, you can access a long corridor, where classic weapons are more useful: AK-47 or M4A1.

Cache Callouts

This is an atmospheric map dedicated to the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The CS2 map callouts list consists of 49 points. It may seem like a lot, but in fact there is nothing complicated in it, because the map is compact and the names of positions are easy to remember.

One of the most iconic moments that happened on this map on the professional scene is the s1mple jump and kills with AWP without using the sniper scope. In honor of this, at point B, there is even graffiti that reminds us of this spectacular moment.

Cobblestone Callouts

Cobblestone CALLOUTS

Cobblestone is a map that brought immense joy to players, but it also became a source of their sadness. The point is that in 2018, Valve removed it from competitive mode and sent it for revision. The process lasted 6 months. After that, the map was returned to the game, but it was not added to competitive mode.

The feature of Cobblestone is the simplicity of learning positions. The map mainly consists of large locations, so there is no need to learn many small aspects.

Overpass Callouts

Overpass CALLOUTS

The action on this map takes place in Germany. The task of the attacking team is to plant the bomb near the truck with a rocket and then blow it up. The alternative option is to blow up point B, which contains a large number of boxes. The defending team spawns right at point A, which allows them to immediately organize defense here conveniently.

Overpass is quite difficult to learn because it has many hidden positions, corners, and places for boosts. But, as we already said, everything comes with experience, so don’t worry if you don’t succeed the first time.

Train Callouts

Train CALLOUTS

The map is made in the style of an abandoned railway station. The main task of the terrorists is to blow up the wagons with nuclear cargo. It is located at point A. When you come here, you will hear the characteristic sounds of a Geiger counter.

Usually, the defending team uses the 3+2 strategy. Three counter-terrorist players are located under the dot. Two players defend at point B.

The gameplay difficulty for the defense is increased by the fact that the map has two levels. Danger can come from below and from above.

A detailed breakdown of positions on the maps you can see in the screenshots. Tip: to learn all the details of the locations faster, first study the positions on an empty server or while playing with bots.

And do not ignore the importance of learning this information. As we already said, perfect knowledge of map callouts in CS2 improves communication between teammates. In this shooter, this is a critically important point. Remember that players do not like to play in a team with a person who does not know the positions on the map. You will not avoid negativity in your address 😀.

Have a good game!
